Getting ready for the Fair

She knows there's been a cat on this desk - she planted herself there the whole day, in watchful alertness...

These socks have a lace cuff - and the lace charts have several errors - needless to say, the 2nd sock is slow-going.  I have to be in a deprivation tank to concentrate.

Lace detail.

This year's knitting - not including all the projects I gave away.  Blocked and ready to go to the Fair next week.

I am in love with this shawl.

Creative Weekend

We actually had a Saturday without obligations, and after spending the morning watching
Star Trek ReRuns, our creative juices started flowing.

Gary harvested his garden, and canned (!) a batch of salsa.

I finished the ruffle edge of my shawl, which involved a good chick flick and purl 2 together bind-off of 1200 stitches.  Then washed, and blocked it.  THAT'S where the real magic happens!  Here is my version of a photo-journal of the happy event:

Binding off the last few stitches.

Letting it rest over night.

Hand wash cycle, with Woolite.  Might as well wash the Preachin' Sox at the same time!

Blocking tools: puzzle pieces, lace wires, t-pins.

Took about 90 minutes to weave the lace wires through EVERY edge stitch - a worthwhile investment of time.

Close-up of wires and pins stretching the shawl.

All that's left to do is weave in the ends.  Tonight!

Daily Ramblings - too hot for anything else

If the dogs are to get out, it has got to be early.  This was taken at 6AM.
It has been 15 years, at least, since this Corps has had any local leaders.  Meet the first 2 - Laura and Debby, leaders together of the Home League!
I think it's actually pretty cool that his feet don't touch the ground....

Back to Blogging

I finally took the plunge and de-activated my Facebook Account.  Not sure if it is permanent, but it was beginning to feel like standing in the middle of a low-income trailer court listening to conversations through the windows.  I used to like Facebook, because it helped me keep in touch with friends and family with daily updates.  Now it is more a forum for "re-posting" odd things from all over the internet.  So, for family and friends, here's where you will find me!

Love this picture - they fell asleep together on the ottoman.
